persona delivers hats for hope!

As many of our readers are already aware, our philosophy at Persona Designs is one of giving back to the community and putting smiles on faces every chance we get. When Melinda delivered a batch of Persona Pails last year to the HOPE Foundation, she was inspired by all of the wonderful things going on behind the scenes at this great organization in Oviedo, FL. She also realized that, although Florida is the Sunshine State, it can often get cold, especially for families who are experiencing tough times.
It wasn’t long after the initial delivery that Melinda came up with idea to crochet hats to keep kids warm and cozy. . . off to the craft store she went, purchasing yarn, crochet hooks, baubles and embellishments! Her goal: crochet 20 hats – and give a unique style to each one!  By commiting herself to crochet one hat a day, she completed her goal in record time. As you can see from the photos below – she also held true to her pledge to create unique hats with loads of personality!
Melinda had the opportunity to deliver the hats yesterday (on top of our holiday pails which will be used to hold gift cards and other small gifts). She met with Janis Williams, a dedicated volunteer at the HOPE Foundation, to make her very special delivery. The hats and pails will be given out at this Saturday’s Christmas in the City event, a day that the Oviedo community unites to provide the spirit of Christmas to families in need. Hundreds of volunteers come together to serve a Christmas Dinner, distribute gifts, toys, gift cards, blankets, and shoes. The day is filled with face painting, puppet shows, games, a special visit from Santa, and SMILES!
In gathering information for this blog post, we came across photographs of last year’s event taken by HELP PORTRAIT and so we just had to share. You can surely see the Christmas spirit shine in the faces of everyone involved!
